Cardium Health Services Corp.
20 Batterson Park Road, Farmington, CT
Shortly after it was founded in 1998, Cardium Health Services Corp. received its first outside investment, a $100,000 seed -stage infusion from Connecticut Innovations, which also advised the fledgling firm on its growth strategy.
Over the next three years, CI invested nearly $3 million more into the disease management and wellness company, which grew to employ 50 people. “Cardium Health Services offered an affordable solution to educating and counseling cardiovascular patients in order to better their lives and minimize future occurrences,” said Russell Tweeddale of Connecticut Innovations.

With its innovative program of offering telephonic counseling to members of health providers, Cardium was on the leading edge of the trend toward preventive care. In 2006 the company was acquired by CenCorp Health Solutions, a subsidiary of Centene Corp., producing a return for investors. Cardium Health continues today to operate out of its Farmington headquarters.
